NDP Frequently Asked Questions

Q Isn’t this just something run by the Parish Council with no real community involvement?

A Not at all, the Neighbourhood Development Plan will only be ratified by Test Valley Borough Council and a Government Inspector if we can prove the community has been heavily involved and consulted throughout the process. It also requires 50% of the community to agree to the plan in a formal referendum.

QWill this really have any impact on me?

AThe NDP has the potential to have a significant impact on everyone in the Parish, many people are worried about the potential for large-scale, unsustainable development and the NDP will have legal powers to prevent this if the Parish community decides this isn’t what we want.

Q How can I get involved?

A We would be delighted to hear from anyone who feels they can help even in a small way. Whether it is delivering leaflets, joining a working group, helping deliver questionnaires or simply being regularly updated, we want to hear from you.

Q How do I get in contact with you?

A You can either contact the Parish Clerk, Peter Storey, on 389688 or email Q Will the NDP just invite developers to build on vacant plots of land or parts of the surrounding countryside?

A Any land identified for potential development will be done so through thorough community consultation and simply will not be able to go forward without agreement by the community.

Q Are these meetings open to the public?

A All working group meetings and meetings of the Parish Council are open to the public. Minutes of all meetings are available on this website.
